How the energy fee for companies in Partille is changing

We are using electricity in new ways in society. More businesses are electrifying their processes, more are charging electric vehicles, and more and more electricity is being used simultaneously.

What affects the electricity grid the most is not how much electricity is used in total – but when many people use a lot at the same time. When the load becomes high for short periods, the electricity grid needs to handle large power peaks.

To use the capacity of the electricity grid smarter and more efficiently, we are therefore changing our electricity grid tariffs and the model for the power fee from September 1, 2026.

Partille Energi has had an impact fee since 2014. What is changing now is how the model is designed and how the fee is calculated.

How our electricity tariffs work

Partille Energi has had an efficiency fee in its electricity grid tariffs since 2014. For companies, the efficiency fee is already part of the electricity grid tariff.

We have a pricing model with relatively low fixed fees combined with variable parts such as transmission fees and power fees. This allows companies to influence their costs to a greater extent through how and when electricity is used.

In the independent Nils Holgersson survey, Partille Energi recurring among the electricity network companies in Sweden with the lowest fees. The power fee does not mean that our customers pay more than customers in other electricity networks. 

However, costs can be distributed differently between customers depending on how and when electricity is used. Businesses that use a lot of electricity at the same time when the load on the electricity grid is high may have a higher electricity grid cost, while companies with more even electricity use over time may have a lower one.

From September 1, 2026, we will change how the power fee is calculated for low-voltage customers.
  • The power charge is measured all year round.
  • Measured every day between 07 am and 21 pm, the calculation is always based on Swedish standard time, i.e. winter time.
  • Based on an average of the three highest hours during peak hours – on different days – each month

This is how we measure

We measure how much electricity the business uses every quarter. The quarter measurements are then added together to give hourly values.

Each month, we determine the three hours during peak hours when your business used the most electricity. The hours should be from three different days. The average of these three hourly values ​​forms the basis for the business's power charge.

Consider the time during daylight saving time

The calculation is always based on Swedish standard time, i.e. winter time. When it is summer time, you therefore need to subtract one hour from the time shown on the clock:

  • 10:00 PM summer time corresponds to 9:00 PM standard time.
  • 10:00 PM summer time corresponds to 9:00 PM standard time.

Therefore, remember to recalculate the times when you check your electricity usage during daylight saving time.

For businesses with high-voltage subscriptions, we are maintaining the current model, where the power fee will continue to be based on the highest hourly consumption during the month, regardless of when it occurs.

Three ways to avoid power peaks in your business

Electricity usage varies between different businesses, but in many cases, small changes in how equipment is used can result in lower power peaks.

1. Avoid starting too many things at once

When several energy-intensive systems or machines start up at the same time, the power output can be high for a short period. Spreading out the start-ups can reduce the power peak.

2. Keep track of your business's largest electricity users

Many businesses have equipment that accounts for a large portion of electricity use – for example ventilation, heating, cooling systems or machinery. When several of these are used simultaneously, the effect can be high.

3. Spread out energy-intensive tasks when possible

In some operations, tasks that require a lot of electricity can be scheduled so that they do not occur at the same time. This can help to even out the effect over time.
