The thermostats should normally be completely open in maximum position, but if you want a lower temperature, adjust them by screwing them closed. If it gets too hot with the thermostat in maximum position, a lot of heat will enter the building: In this case you can lower the heat curve in your central heating substation or electric boiler, and also save energy.

What is an electricity certificate?
Electricity certificates are a means of promoting electricity produced from renewable sources, like the sun, wind, water. A defined share of all electricity you consume as a customer must be electricity from renewable sources. This is called the customer’s quote duty. The electricity trading businesses must report this quote to Energimyndigheten (the Swedish Energy Agency).
An example: A producer with a wind turbine power plant can sell the electricity produced, as well as the electricity certificate and the guarantees of origin. All electricity trading businesses are obliged to buy electricity certificates to cover the quote duty of their customers, and they must report this to the Swedish Energy Agency.

I’ve been charged an exit fee by my previous electricity supplier. What to do?
An exit fee is a fee you might be charged if you have changed electricity supplier before the end date of your old contract. The terms of your old contract regulate the length of your contract and may specify the notification period. If you terminate the contract before the end of the contract date or outside the notification period, you will be charged a fee. Do this: Contact your new electricity supplier. Cancel your new agreement until the old one has expired. Once an old contract or period of notice has come to an end, you can change electricity supplier without risking an extra fee.

When do I have the right to get financial compensation for power outages?
If a non-planned power outage lasts for more than 12 consecutive hours, you will normally have the right to get compensation. The outage compensation depends on the length and your estimated yearly electricity network costs. When an outage lasts for 12-24 hours, your compensation will be 12.5 % of your yearly cost for the electricity network, or a minimum of 1 000 SEK. You may also have the right to an indemnity, regardless of how long the outage lasts. If the electricity has worked without disruption for at least two consecutive hours, the issue is considered to be resolved.

How is the electricity network fee used?
The electricity network fee covers, among other things, the cost of investments in and maintenance of the electricity network. In Partille, for instance, the electricity network has only a few overhead cables left. We are successively phasing them out and changing to cables in the ground. This makes the electricity network more resilient in hard weather and we get fewer outages.

What does the electricity network fee consist of?
The electricity network fee for detached houses and for most business contracts is divided into three parts.
- Subscription – a fixed yearly fee paid by the customers which gives them access to the electricity network. The subscription fee depends on the size of the main fuse.
- Electricity transmission – a variable fee for the delivery of electricity through the electricity network. The fee you pay is based on how much electricity you use.
- Effect – a variable fee for the maximum load of the electricity network’s capacity. The fee you pay is based on the highest consumption/hour each month (kW).
If you live in a flat in an apartment building with at least three flats connected to a common service cable and a main fuse with a maximum effect of 16A, there will be no effect charge on your invoice.
Businesses with a high voltage subscription will pay a variable extra fee for what is called the reactive effect.

How do I get a lower electricity network fee through the effect tariff?
If your electricity network fee contains an effect tariff, you will be charged for the hour/hours when you use most electricity, or in other words your effect peak. You can influence how high the peak will be. If you have many electricity appliances and all are running at the same time, the effect peak will be higher than if you spread the use over several hours. The flexible effect fee on your invoice is based on the highest effect value each month.
